Late Goal Extends Win Streak to Three with 1-0 Win at Marywood

Scranton, PA (September 10, 2017) - Sophomore Christie Hansen (San Diego, CA) scored the lone goal of the game with 2:03 left to play leading the DeSales University field hockey team past Marywood University, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.

The win gives DSU its first 3-0 start since the 2010 season when the Bulldogs opened the season with four straight wins.  DeSales will look to equal that start as the best start in team history on Wednesday when they host Arcadia University beginning at 6:00 pm.

A scoreless game into the half remained scoreless and seemed to destined for overtime when sophomore Kylie Honnick-Payne (Johnson City, NY) found Hansen amongst a scrum in front of the cage with 2:03 left and she scored her first goal of the season giving DSU the win.

Sophomore Katarina Polyviou (Cranford, NJ) and the DeSales defense did the rest recording its third straight shutout as Plyviou made seven saves in between the pipes.
