Center Valley, PA (September 13, 2017) - The DeSales University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to #14 Messiah College in non-conference action on a drizzly Wednesday afternoon.
The  Bulldogs (3-2) had two good scoring chances with the first coming just before MC's (2-1-2) first goal when sophomore
Sydney Amato (East Rockaway, NY) was alone in the box about 10 yards shy of the goal but her shot sailed just a few inches over the crossbar.
Just seconds later the Falcons were the first team in the board when
Ellie Lengacher scored off an assist from
Julia Kyne when her low shot scooted underneath a diving Bulldogs keeper.
In the second half, senior
Angelica Bertola (East Stroudsburg, PA) broke free early in the half and had a point blank 1-v-1 with the keeper but her hard liner was knocked wide by a diving Falcon keeper protecting the one goal lead.
Messiah then broke thru with two goals in a span of 2:21 asÂ
Maddie Waits scored both times off an assist fromÂ
Abby Monko on the first goal and both Monko andÂ
Brooke FIrestone on the second goal.
MC held a 19-3 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. Â It was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
Junior
Haley Jacobs (Bloomsbury, NJ) made six saves for the Bulldogs.
DeSales is back to action on Saturday when they host Alvernia University beginning at 2:00 pm.
