Bethlehem, PA (September 2, 2017) - Sophomore
Kylie Honnick-Payne scored two goals leading the DeSales University field hockey team to a 3-0 win over local rival Moravian College in the 2017 season opener for both teams.
The win is the first for the Bulldogs over the Greyhounds at Moravian in team history, breaking a seven-game streak in the series.
Freshman
Becky Barley got the scoring started with her first career tally in the 19th minute scoring off a corner from senior
Kelly Meade as that score stood into the halftime break.
The Bulldogs needed just 28 seconds into the second-half to extend its lead as Honnick-Payne scored for the first time and added a third goal, second of the day for herself, in the 58th minute to provide the final tally.
DeSales dominated play out-shooting Moravian, 17-2, and holding a 13-1 advantage in penalty corners. Sophomore
Katarina Polyviou made one save to record the shutout.
DeSales is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to its other local rival, Muhlenberg College, with game time set for 7:30 pm.
