Center Valley, PA (September 20, 2017) - Junior Alex DiRienzo (Newark, DE) scored with 3:45 left in the second OT lifting the DeSales University men's soccer team past local rival Muhlenberg College, 1-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

DiRienzo broke free late in the second overtime and fired a shot past a charging Mule keeper.  The keeper saved the attempt with a diving kick save but the rebound went right to DiRienzo who pushed a second shot slowly past the keeper as the ball trickled into the giving the Bulldogs the win.

Both teams had good chances to score prior to that including Muhlenberg hitting the crossbar once in the first-half and again in the first overtime period.  MC had a 17-4 advantage in shots but the Bulldogs had more on goal (6-4).  The Mules had an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior Dan Sulpizio (Philadelphia, PA) recorded his fourth shutout as DSU has allowed just one goal during this six-game winning streak.  He made four saves.

The Bulldogs will put the six-game winning streak on the line Saturday when they host Lancaster Bible College beginning at 3:30 pm.
