Chester, PA (September 27, 2017) - The DeSales University field hockey team fell just short falling at Widener University, 1-0, in a non-conference game on Wednesday evening.
The Pride (6-2) scored just over 14 minutes into the game when a centering pass was re-directed into the cage as that score stood into the halftime break.
The Bulldogs best chance came just after the goal when a shot from sophomore
Kylie Honnick-Payne (Johnson City, NY) was saved and a follow-up shot from sophomore
Madison Brader (Coopersburg, PA) was saved by a Pride defender.
Neither team was able to find the back of the cage in the second-half as the Bulldogs fell by the one goal margin.
Widener out-shot DeSales, 14-6, for the game and out-cornered the Bulldogs, 7-4. Â Sophomore
Katarina Polyviou (Cranford, NJ) made five saves in goal.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they host Eastern University in a MAC Freedom game on homecoming beginning at Noon.
