Men's Soccer Wins Eighth Straight, Records Fifth Straight Shutout in 3-0 Win over Albright

Reading, PA (September 27, 2017) - The DeSales University men's soccer team earned its eighth straight win and its fifth straight in shutout form blanking Albright College, 3-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (8-1) have now allowed just one goal during this eight-game win streak, recording seven shutouts and five straight.  DSU has allowed just four goals all season.  The shutout streak is now up to 479:52.  Senior Dan Sulpizio (Philadelphia, PA) made six saves and pushed his season goals against average down to 0.44.

Sophomore Javaughn Hussett (Whitehall, PA) got the scoring started just 3:19 into the game scoring his second goal of the year off an assist from junior Zach Reichard (Bethlehem, PA).  The one goal lead stood into the half.

Just under six minutes into the second-half DSU was awarded a PK, but Justin Habick (Effort, PA) hit the post on the attempt.  On the ensuing rebound DeSales was awarded a second PK after a hand ball in the box and this time junior Michael Kirby (Bensalem, PA) scored giving DSU a 2-0 lead.

Junior Max Cortina (Pittstown, NJ) then put the exclamation point on the win, scoring unassisted for his first tally of the year at 61:59.

DeSales enjoyed a 15-7 edge in shots, while AC (1-8-1) had a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

The Bulldogs now look towards MAC Freedom play where they will host FDU-Florham on homecoming Saturday afternoon beginning at 3:30 pm.
