Center Valley, PA (September 30, 2017) - The DeSales University men's soccer team extended its winning streak to nine games, eight via shutout, blanking FDU-Florham, 2-0, in the MAC Freedom opener for both teams on homecoming Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (9-1, 1-0 MAC Freedom) have now won nine straight, one shy of tying the record, eight via shutout including seven straight shutouts.  They have shattered the consecutive shutouts mark of four, broke the consecutive scoreless minutes mark having not allowed a goal in the last 569:52, and are now just three shutouts shy of tying the single-season mark of 11 set three times.
Senior 
Dan Sulpizio (Philadelphia, PA) made three saves and has also not allowed a goal in the 569:52, just 52:43 shy of the individual scoreless streak record.
DSU took a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute when senior 
Joey Malvestuto (Philadelphia, PA) took a pass from junior 
Max Cortina (Pittstown, NJ) and chipped a ball just past the Devils charging goalkeeper.
The Bulldogs got their insurance goal late in the 82nd minute when junior 
Zach Reichard (Bethlehem, PA) knocked in the rebound of saved shot off the foot of sophomore 
Javaughn Hussett (Whitehall, PA).
DSU out-shot FDU, 16-7, took all six corners in the game.
The Bulldogs will look to tie the consecutive wins mark of 10 on Wednesday when they host William Paterson University beginning at 4:00 pm.
