Eastern controlled both the third and fourth sets as DeSales struggled to ket kills recording just seven in the third set and nine in the fourth set while hitting less than .100 in each set as tied the match with a 25-14 and 25-18 win.
Fifth Set
A quick start seemed mandatory for the Bulldogs to have a chance at the upset and a quick they got scoring five of the first six points to take a 5-1 lead that included back-to-back service aces from sophomore
Taylor Aron (Sinking Spring, PA) and a kill from Kelly.
The teams switched sides with the Bulldogs up 8-3 but Eastern climbed back into the set pulling to within two points (9-7). Â A kill from Kelly and an error from Eastern pushed the advantage back up to four points (11-7) and after earning a set point at 14-9, DSU put the match away at 14-11 on a kill from Savite', her team-leading 18th of the match.
DSU finished the game hitting .167 and did a wonderful job of limiting its mistakes committing just five service errors and no blocking errors in the win.
Savite` finished with 18 kills and 17 digs for her ninth double-double of the season and Kelly added 14 kills, hitting .225. Â Shoemaker was outstanding in the middle with 13 kills, hitting .290, and adding a team-high three blocks.
