Volleyball Sweeps Both Matches on Day Two of Worthington Classic; Kelly Named All-Tournament

Washington, DC (September 30, 2017) - The DeSales University volleyball team swept both matches on day two of the 11th annual Worthington Classic defeating both Rochester Institute of Technology and Nichols College, 3-0.

Match #1 (W/3-0 vs. RIT)
The Bulldogs won close sets in the first two, 25-20 and 25-22, before hitting an impressive .615 in the third set to win 25-15.  DSU hit .222 for the match commiting just 13 hitting errors in the match.

Leading the attack was freshman Noel Kelly (Saylorsburg, PA), who was the lone Bulldog to earn All-Tournament team honors, with 10 kills in the win.  Junior Gabby Savite` (Hackettstown, NJ) had seven kills and 13 digs and sophomore Morghan Shoemaker (Allentown, PA) led the charge with four blocks.

Junior Natalie Gray (Aston, PA) finished with 11 digs and freshman Julia Bradford (Mertztown, PA) totaled 29 assists.

Match #2 (W/3-0 vs. Nichols)
DeSales hit .346 for the match and had just nine errors in the win.

Kelly once again led the way with 17 kills and hit .552 in the win.  Savite` added 11 kills and 13 digs.  Sophomores Taylor Aron (Sinking Spring, PA) and Cristal Fernandez (Whitehall, PA) each had 12 digs and Bradford finished with 36 assists.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday when they host Misericordia University in a MAC Freedom match beginning at 7:00 pm.
