Hansen and Honnick-Payne Combine for Five Goals in 6-4 Win over Eastern

St. David's, PA (October 13, 2018) - Juniors Christie Hansen and Kylie Honnick-Payne combined to score five goals and added two assists leading the DeSales University field hockey team past Eastern University, 6-4, in a big MAC Freedom road win on Saturday morning.

How it Happened
  • DeSales took an early 1-0 lead as sophomore Erin Chioffe scored in the 9th minute on smash off a corner feed from Honnick-Payne.
  • Eastern tied the game 11 minutes later before the Bulldogs countered with three straight goals to take a 4-1 lead.
  • The two teams traded goals over the final two minutes of the first-half as DeSales took a 5-2 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • EU pulled back to within two goals just two minutes into the second-half before Honnick-Payne got the three goal lead back in the 42nd minute.
  • Eastern added another goal in the 56th minute that ended the scoring giving DSU a 6-4 win.

  • Hansen netted a hat trick scoring DSU's second, third, and fifth goals giving her 16 career tallies.
  • Honnick-Payne totaled two goals and two assists giving her 70 career points and making her just the fourth player all-time to record 70+ career points.
