Field Hockey Explodes for Nine Goals in 9-1 Win over Manhattanville

Center Valley, PA (October 17, 2018) - The DeSales University field hockey team posted a season-high nine goals in securing a 9-1 win over Manhattanville College in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs completely dominated this game scoring four times in the first 18 minutes of the game before MVC got on the board.
  • The lead was 6-1 at the half before the Bulldogs added three more tallies in the second-half to post the final tally.
  • The win keeps DeSales in a tie for second place with Wilkes University heading into the final two games of the regular season.
  • There are a host of things that would clinch a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament for the Bulldogs, the easiest of which is a win on Saturday vs. Wilkes University.

  • Several Bulldogs had outstanding nights including junior Christie Hansen with three goals and two assists, tying the record for most points (8) in a game.
  • Junior Kylie Honnick-Payne had two goals and three assists for seven points and sophomore Hannah Williams finished with three goals and an assist for seven points.
  • Junior Julia DeLuca scored her first career goal late in the game.
  • Freshman Abbey Shiffert recorded her first career point with an assist on DeLuca's goal.
  • Junior Katarina Polyviou made one save (on a penalty stroke) in between the pipes.
For the Foes
  • The Valiants lone goal came from Emily Antinozzi and was assisted by Ameerah Thomas.
