Morgan Birmelin broke the single-game record for assists in a game with 14 leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past Arcadia University, 104-66, in the 2018-19 season opener on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

How it Happened
- DeSales never trailed in this one jumping out to a 9-0 lead over the first 3:55 of the game.
- Leading by seven (21-14) early in the second quarter, the Bulldogs used a 17-4 run over the span of 4:39 to take a 38-18 lead.
- During the run DSU hit four 3's and the lead swelled to as many as 21 points on freshman Juliana Tritto's fifth three of the half at the 1:56 mark.
- DeSales never lost control pushing the lead to as many as 33 points in third quarter out-scoring the Knights, 35-23, and saw the lead peak at 43 points with 4:06 to go in the fourth quarter.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Birmelin's 14 helpers broke the previous mark of 13 held by Tina Costello since the 1984-85 season. She now has three of the top 10 single-game assist marks in team history and added a double-double to her performance with 11 points and finished with four steals.
- Senior Leandra Sterner and Tritto each led the team with 15 points, shooting a combined 8-for-10 from outside the arc.
- Senior Bridget Walsh finished with 14 points and freshman Samantha Shinkus added 13 tallies.
- Rounding out the double digit scorers were freshman Averi Jordan and sophomore Isabel Caruso with 10 points each.
- Freshman Rylie Rittenhouse pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
For the Foes
- Taylor Dunn finished with 15 points, shooting a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
- Sydney Cyr added 12 points, six rebounds, and five steals off the bench for the Knights.
Inside the Box Score
- It is the 10th time in team history the Bullodgs have scored 100+ points in a game and is the third highest total in a game.
- DeSales shot a blistering 51.3 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from three-point land.
- DSU hit 14 three-pointers, breaking the single-game record of 13 set during the 2008-09 season.
- The Bulldogs out-rebounded Arcadia, 46-38, and had 28 assists as compared to just 16 turnovers.
