Center Valley, PA (November 28, 2018) - Four different players scored in double digits led by senior
Morgan Birmelin with a game-high 21 points leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past Gwynedd-Mercy University, 79-51, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

How it Happened
- After GMU scored the first two points of the game, DSU tallied the next 15 points to take a 15-2 lead and led 15-5 after one quarter.
- A 10-0 run late in the second quarter pushed the lead up to 20 points, the largest in the first-half, before the Bulldogs settled for a 38-22 halftime lead.
- The Griffins were quick out of the gates in the second-half pulling to within nine points (42-33) at the 6:47 mark before DeSales finished the quarter on a 16-2 run to take a 64-38 lead after three quarters of play.
- The lead swelled to as many as 32 points in the fourth quarter before the final tally was posted.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Birmelin was sensational with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting and added five rebounds, six assists, and five steals in the win.
- Freshman Samantha Shinkus finished with 12 points and added six rebounds and six steals.
- Freshman Averi Jordan recorded her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 boards, while sophomore Isabel Caruso rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 points.
- Freshman Emma Stanfield came off the bench to total eight points and four steals.
For the Foes
- GMU got 10 points from three players, Shannon Carroll, Susan Bossler, and Jill Kane.

- DSU forced 34 Griffin turnovers leading to 30 Bulldog points.
- DeSales dominated the paint out-scoring GMU, 42-16 and out-rebounding Gwynedd, 57-46.
