Men's Basketball Opens Season with Loss at Princeton

Princeton, NJ (November 8, 2018) - The DeSales University men's basketball team opened its 2018-19 season with an 85-51 loss at Princeton University on Friday evening in Jadwin Gymnasium.

How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs hung tight early trailing by just three points (11-8) at the first media timeout after back-to-back 3's from senior Luke Connaghan and junior Tracy Simsick.
  • Trailing 27-12 after a 16-4 Tigers run, DSU scored nine straight points to pull within six (27-21) at the 7:14 mark of the first-half.
  • Princeton answered with a 15-1 spurt to take a 20-point lead and led by 21 (48-27) at the break.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Simsick led DeSales with a team-high 13 points and added four blocks.
  • Connaghan was one point and one rebound shy of a double-double.
  • Sophomores Mike Bealer and Timmy Edwards each had six points off the bench.
For the Foes
  • Myles Stephens totaled a game-high 21 points for the Tigers.
  • Drew Friberg had 13 and Richmond Aririguzoh added 10 to lead Princeton.
Notes
  • It was the first time since 1992-93 season DeSales had played a Division I team and the 11th time in team history.
