Women's Lacrosse Opens Season with 13-6 Loss at Drew

Madison, NJ (February 21, 2018) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse dropped its 2018 season opener, 13-6, at Drew University on an unseasonably warm Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (0-1) fell behind early as Drew (1-0) scored the first six goals of the game and led 7-1 at the half.

DSU hung tough and played very well in the second-half, being out-scored by just one goal (6-5) over the final 30 minutes and finishing the game with more ground balls than the Rangers.

Freshman Julia Astram (Milford, CT) led the scoring attack with three goals and sophomore Katie Kingsland (Warren, NJ) added two.  Senior Danielle Burke (Philadelphia, PA) had one goal and freshman Sami Stahl (Granby, CT) finished with an assist and a team-high four draw controls.

Freshman Katie Stordy (Westfield, IN) picked up a team-high six ground balls and senior Kelly Meade (Philadelphia, PA) had a team-best three caused turnovers.  Freshman goalkeepers Kyra Myers (Blue Bell, PA) and Rachel Sheubrooks (Halethorpe, MD) combined to make seven saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Monday when they host Swarthmore College in another non-conference game beginning at 5:30 pm.
