Center Valley, PA (February 26, 2018) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team dropped its 2018 home opener falling to Swarthmore College, 15-4, on beautiful February evening on Monday.
The Bulldogs (0-2) took a 1-0 lead winning the first draw and senior
Kelly Meade (Philadelphia, PA) scored unassisted just 36 seconds into the game before the Garnet (1-0) scored nine straight goals to take a 9-1 lead and led 12-2 at the half.
DSU played much better in the second-half holding SC to just three goals as Meade and fellow senior
Danielle Burke (Philadelphia, PA) both scored to post the final 15-4 tally.
Meade finished with three goals to lead the scoring attack. Sophomore
Katie Kingsland (Warren, NJ) had a team-high two ground balls and freshman
Julia Astram (Milford, CT) finished with a team-best two draw controls.
Both freshman goalkeepers,
Rachel Sheubrooks (Halethorpe, MD) and
Kyra Myers (Blue Bell, PA), made three saves in the loss.
The Bulldogs did a much better job possessing the ball committing just 16 turnovers and forced 15 Garnet miscues. DSU was also 12-for-14 in clears.
DeSales is back in action next week taking on Roanoke College on March 6th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL over spring break.
