Glenville, WV (February 25, 2018) - The DeSales University baseball team finished its weekend trip splitting a doubleheader with Oneonta on Sunday afternoon finishing the trip with a 1-2 record vs. the Red Dragons.
Game One (W/2-1)
Senior
Konner Schneider (Bedminster, NJ) earned the win pitching one inning of scoreless relief and senior
Andrew Schuler (Collegeville, PA) also pitched very well tossing six strong innings allowing seven hits and just one run, striking out three.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the second inning, the Bulldogs (3-3) tied the game in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI triple from junior
Charlie Barebo (Emmaus, PA).
The game remained tied into the seventh inning. Wit two outs senior
Randal Pacchioli (Catasauqua, PA) singled and was pinch-run for sophomore
Chase Williams (Berlin, NJ), who advanced to second on a walk, and eventually stole third base, scoring a few pitches later on an RBI single from Barebo.
Game Two (L/1-3)
The Bulldogs took the early lead in game two scoring on the first batter of the game when Barebo hit a solo home run. DSU left the bases loaded in the fourth inning but were unable to score again as Oneonta tied the game in the second inning and scored two runs in the seventh inning to take a 3-1 lead and ultimately the win.
Freshman
Ian Kacergis (Sellersville, PA) suffered the loss despite pitching very well allowing just two earned runs over seven innings, striking out seven.
The Bulldogs are off this week and will return to action next week when they travel to Florida for Spring Break.
