Men's Lacrosse Falls at Gwynedd-Mercy, 6-2

Gwynedd-Valley, PA (March 17, 2018) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team scored twice falling to Gwynedd-Mercy University, 6-2, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Gwynedd-Mercy - 6, DeSales - 2

How it Happened
  • For the second straight year these two teams played an extremely scoring game as the Bulldogs won 3-2 last season as the Griffins returned the favor allowing two goals on their home field this season.
  • GMU scored the only three goals of the first-half to hold a 3-0 lead before senior Joe Neggia scored first to open the third quarter pulling DSU within 3-1.
  • After both teams went scoreless over the next 10+ minutes, the Griffins scored twice to end the third quarter and once to start the fourth quarter to take a 6-1 lead and the Bulldogs were unable to recover.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Freshman Matt Motto and Neggia scored DSU's goals.
  • Sophomore Frank Krug had a team-high four ground balls and caused three turnovers.
  • Junior Matt Barry finished with eight saves.
For the Foes
  • Ryan Simpson scored three goals an added an assist.
  • Kohler Setley had two assists.
  • Joey Giordano won 9-of-11 face-offs and had three ground balls.
  • Chris Burns made 11 saves.

  • GMU out-shot DeSales, 30-23, but the Bulldogs had a slim 13-12 advantage in ground balls.
