Tommy Epsaro (Bethlehem, PA) hit two home runs and knocked in six runs leading the DeSales University baseball team past Montclair State University, 8-1, on a chilly Tuesday afternoon at Butz Field.
The Bulldogs (9-9 overall) got a strong performance on the bump from senior
Jack Moore (Macungie, PA) who went five strong innings allowing just five hits and one run, striking out two, to earn his first win of the season.
DSU scored solo runs in the first and third innings on RBI singles from sophomore
Michael White (Clinton, NJ) and junior
Preston Amato (Center Valley, PA) to take a 2-0 lead before Epsaro hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and crushed a grand slam that sailed well over the scoreboard in left field in the sixth inning giving DeSales an 8-1 lead and ultimately the win.
The bullpen, consisting of sophomores
John Poccia (Monmouth Beach, NJ) and
Ryan Passaro (Wayne, NJ) and senior
Konner Schneider (Bedminster, NJ), combined to allow just three hits and striking out four to finish off the win.
DeSales is back in action on Thursday when they host Eastern University in MAC Freedom action beginning at 3:30 pm.
