Center Valley, PA (March 29, 2018) - The DeSales University baseball team recorded 15 hits and scored a season-high 17 runs taking the first of three games this week vs. Eastern University in MAC Freedom action on Thursday afternoon.
DSU took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when junior
Aaron Fritz (Pottsville, PA) and junior
Tommy Epsaro (Bethlehem, PA) each recorded RBI singles.
Eastern caught fire in the third inning with five hits, scoring four runs to take a brief 4-2 lead as the Bulldogs countered with a five-run bottom of the inning. Epsaro had a two-run double, senior
Conner Lafferty (Langhorne, PA) a sacrifice fly, and junior
Nick White (The Woodlands, TX) and sophomore
Michael White (Clinton, NJ) each had RBI doubles.
The Bulldogs added two more to take a 9-4 lead on a two-run home run from Epsaro, his third in the last two games, and broke the game wide open in the eighth with seven runs three hits and five walks.
Senior
Adam Donovan (Somers, CT) pitched seven strong innings allowing just six hits and striking out seven to earn his second win of the year.
Epsaro finished with three hits, three runs scored, and six RBIs for the second straight game. Lafferty knocked in three runs and N. White also had three hits. Junior
Charlie Barebo (Emmaus, PA) had two hits and three RBIs, freshman
Cody Mish (Mohrsville, PA) went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and M. White finished with two hits and two RBIs. All but one starter scored a run in the win.
The Bulldogs finish up the series with Eastern on Saturday when they travel to St. David's for a MAC Freedom doubleheader on Saturday.
