Kissimmee, FL (March 5, 2018) - The DeSales University softball team dropped both games on day two of its spring trip to Florida falling to Emerson University, 13-4, in the first game and Defiance College, 5-2, in the second game.
Game One (L/4-13)
The Bulldogs fell behind early as Emerson scored four times in the first inning and led 7-0 after four innings. DeSales (1-3) got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as freshman
Ciarrah Holmqvist (Bangor, PA) had an RBI double and sophomore
Madison Sias (Flemington, NJ) had a two-RBI single in the inning.
EU then scored six unearned runs in the seventh inning before the Bulldogs pushed one more across in the bottom half on an RBI single from freshman
Reilly Kerr (Philadelphia, PA).
Kerr led the offense with three hits, while sophomore
Erin Redden (Clifton Heights, PA) and Sias each had two base knocks in the loss.
Game Two (L/2-5)
Defiance scored once in the third and twice in the fifth taking a 3-0 lead before DSU got one back in the sixth on an RBI single from freshman
Hallie Muffley (Walnutport, PA). DC added two more in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead before junior
Carly Benjamin (Glen Rock, NJ) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded providing the final tally.
Senior
Andrea Artesani (West Greenwich, RI) suffered the loss allowing three runs over five innings and Redden had two more hits for the Bulldogs.
DeSales is off tomorrow before taking on Bridgewater College and Muhlenberg College on Wednesday.
