Camden, NJ (April 10, 2018) - The DeSales University baseball bats took a night off as the Bulldogs managed just two hits falling late to Rutgers-Camden, 5-2, in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (15-10) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when freshman
Cody Mish walked, stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on an RBI groundout from senior
Conner Lafferty.
After Rutgers-Camden scored two in the bottom of the first inning, DSU tied the game at two in the third after junior
Charlie Barebo singled, stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on a second RBI groundout from Lafferty.
The game remained tied into the bottom of the seventh inning when a Bulldog misplay on a bunt led to a two-run single from the Scarlet Raptors and an error later in the inning led to a third run giving the hosts a 5-2 lead and the Bulldogs were unable to mount a comeback.
Senior
Jack Moore pitched outstanding despite the loss allowing seven hits and four runs over six innings, striking out five. He retired seven straight at one point. Barebo and junior
Preston Amato had DSU's lone two hits of the game.
DeSales is right back to action tomorrow when they travel to The University of Scranton for another non-conference game beginning at 5:00 pm.
