Men's Lacrosse Stunned in Overtime at Delaware Valley, 9-8

Doylestown, PA (April 11, 2018) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaking decision falling at Delaware Valley University, 9-8, in overtime in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics

How it Happened
  • After the Aggies scored the first two goals of the game, DSU scored eight of the next 10 goals to lead 8-4 early in the fourth quarter.
  • The Bulldogs still led 8-5 with just under three minutes left when Del. Val. scored three goals in a span of 1:42 to tie the score at eight with 1:05 to go.
  • DeSales won the face-off to start overtime but a turnover gave Delaware Valley possession and the Aggies capitalized with 1:28 left to earn the comeback win.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Freshman Matt Motto (Sewell, NJ) was outstanding in the loss scoring four goals and adding two assists for six points.
  • Senior Joe Neggia (Kinnelon, NJ) had one goal and one assist and freshman Zach Bowen (Middletown, DE) had two goals.
  • Sophomore Justin Monaghan (Swarthmore, PA) had two assists, sophomore Eric Magro (Ridley Park, PA) had a goal, and senior Tommy Friedman (Monroe, NY) added an assist.
  • Junior Matt Barry (Patchogue, NY) finished with 16 saves in between the pipes.
  • Sophomore Frank Krug (Perkasie, PA) had three caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
  • Freshman Colin Corrado (West Deptford, NJ) won 10-of-19 face-offs.
For the Foes
  • Matt Waibel had three goals and PJ Rafferty totaled two goals and an assist.
  • Chris Coyle added two goals and Jordan Smith and Orterro Felton each had one goal.
  • Brandon Keller added an assist.
  • Bryan Thompson won 10-of-21 face-offs.
Inside the Box Score
  • Delaware Valley out-shot DeSales, 44-30, and had a 35-29 advantage in ground balls.
