Men's Lacrosse Drops Defensive Battle, 8-5, to Eastern

Center Valley, PA (April 14, 2018) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team dropped a tight defensive battle, 8-5, to Eastern University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Eastern - 8, DeSales - 5
  • Records:  DeSales (3-8, 0-3 MAC Freedom); Eastern (6-6, 3-0 MAC Freedom)
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs held a 4-3 lead scoring the final two goals of the second quarter.
  • Eastern took control in the third quarter scoring all three goals recorded to take a 6-4 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • Senior Joe Neggia scored unassisted to start the fourth quarter pulling DSU within one and the Bulldogs had several possessions to try and tie the game but came up short as Eastern got its insurance goal with 3:13 to go and added another just under a minute later.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Sophomore Justin Monaghan led the Bulldogs with three goals.
  • Neggia and and senior Tommy Friedman also tallied goals.
  • Neggia had a team-high three ground balls and sophomore Frank Krug finished with three caused turnovers.
  • Junior Matt Barry totaled 11 saves.
For the Foes
  • Trevor Gallion had three goals and Mark Buannic finished with two goals and an assist.
  • Hassan Mackey had one goal and one assist and Jimmy Kurnik and Jake Billera each scored a goal.
  • Zach Bauer picked up 10 ground balls and won 16-of-17 face-offs.
  • Zameal Hadeed made five saves in the win.

  • Eastern had a 30-21 advantage in shots and a 31-17 edge in ground balls.
  • The Eagles won 16-of-17 faceoffs.
