Madison, NJ (April 18, 2018) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team dropped a defensive battle at FDU-Florham on Wednesday evening, 6-4, in MAC Freedom action.

The Basics

How it Happened

• FDU scored three straight goals to start the second quarter to take a 4-1 lead before the Bulldogs gathered some momentum before the half scoring twice in a span of 55 seconds to pull within one goal (4-3) at the break.
• The Devils pushed their lead up to 6-3 with 2:22 to go in the third quarter before sophomore Justin Monaghan scored with 48 seconds left to get the Bulldogs within two entering the final quarter.
• Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final quarter as the Devils goalkeeper made 10 fourth quarter saves to preserve the win.

Top Bulldog Performers

• Senior Joe Neggia had two goals, while J. Monaghan and freshman Zach Bowen scored DSU's other two markers.
• Freshman Rob Heaney added two assists and sophomore Eric Magro had one assist in the loss.
• Sophomore Frank Krug picked up a team-high six ground balls and caused four turnovers.
• Sophomore Jack Carney also had four caused turnovers.
• Junior Matt Barry made 14 saves in between the pipes.

For the Foes

• John Belanger finished with two goals and one assist to lead the scoring.
• Will Kenny, David Stewart, Pat Stewart, and Tyler Garcia also each scored.
• John Guido had two assists.
• Kenny won 11-of-13 face-offs and had 10 ground balls.
• Adam Reifer made 22 saves.
