Madison, NJ (April 23, 2018) - The DeSales University baseball team exploded for 11 runs in the third inning and that was all the Bulldogs needed in an 11-1 win over FDU-Florham in MAC Freedom action on Monday afternoon.
A scoreless game entering the third inning was blown wide open by DeSales as it plated 11 runs on seven hits and four walks.
Sophomore
Evan Plummer led off the inning with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher, and scored on a throwing error by the centerfielder. Junior
Charlie Barebo added two RBI doubles plating four totals runs, junior
Preston Amato had an RBI single, junior
Aaron Fritz, senior Conner Laffert, and freshman
Cody Mish all had bases loaded walks, and junior
Tommy Epsaro put the exclamation point on the inning hitting a two-run home run.
That was all senior
Adam Donovan needed pitching six shutout innings allowing three hits and striking out 10. He improved to 3-2 on the year.
Barebo finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs, Amato had four hits as eight of nine starters had hits in the win.
The Bulldogs are right back to action tomorrow when they travel to Delaware Valley University in another MAC Freedom contest beginning at 4:00 pm.
