Doylestown, PA (April 24, 2018) - The DeSales University baseball team surrendered four unearned runs in the sixth inning and were unable to recover scoring just one run with the bases loaded and no one out in the ninth inning to fall at Delaware Valley University, 6-5, in MAC Freedom action on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (21-13, 14-4 MAC Freedom) took a 2-1 lead in the third inning when sophomore
Sergio Diaz and junior
Nick White each had RBI hits and DSU extended its lead to 3-1 in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from White.
It was a 3-2 game entering the sixth when the Bulldogs dropped a fly ball with two outs in the sixth that led to four unearned runs giving the Aggies a 6-3 lead.
DeSales got one back in the seventh on an RBI single from White and loaded the bases with no one out in the ninth, scoring one run with one out on a sacrfice fly from freshman
Sean Hanczaryk before a strike out ended the game.
Diaz finished the game 2-for-3 and N. White was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Junior
Preston Amato scored three times. Senior
Andrew Schuler earned a no-decision lasting five innings allowing five hits and two runs, striking out nine.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they host Moravian College in a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
