Baseball Scores 15 in Fourth Straight Win over Local Rival Moravian

Center Valley, PA (April 26, 2018) - Junior Tommy Epsaro went 3-for-5 with two home runs leading the DeSales University baseball team past local rival Moravian College, 15-7, in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (22-13) win their fourth straight over the Greyhounds in the annual late season showdown.

DSU took a 3-0 lead in the second inning when Epsaro hit his first of two dingers, a three-run shot to centerfield.

The lead jumped to 8-0 in the third inning when senior Conner Lafferty hit a two-run single, sophomore Sergio Diaz had a two-run blast, and junior Aaron Fritz had an RBI single.

Moravian battled back from down right runs to score once in the fourth, twice in the fifth, and four in the sixth to pull within a run at 8-7.

DeSales answered the Greyhounds in the bottom of the sixth scoring seven times to break the game open once again.

Epsaro led the inning off with a home run, junior Charlie Barebo and Lafferty each had RBI singles, and junior Preston Amato and sophomore Evan Plummer each knocked in two runs with RBI base hits.

Sophomore John Poccia earned the win pitching 5 1/3 strong innings allowing four earned and striking out four.

Epsaro knocked in four runs and scored three times, Lafferty had two hits, scored twice, and knocked in three runs and Diaz had two RBIs in the win.  DSU stole five bases on the afternoon.

DeSales is scheduled to be back in action tomorrow when they host Wilkes University in a MAC Freedom game set to begin at 3:30 pm.
