Neggia Nets Five as Men's Lacrosse Scores Important 12-7 Win over Manhattanville

Center Valley, PA (April 25, 2018) - Senior Joe Neggia score five goals leading the DeSales University men's lacrosse team to an important 12-7 win over Manhattanville College in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • After the Valiants scored the first goal of the game, DSU answered with five straight markers to take a 5-1 lead.
  • DSU eventually took an 8-2 lead before the Valiants closed the half with a goal as DeSales led 8-3 at the break.
  • Two quick goals from the Valiants to open the third quarter made it a three-goal game but the Bulldogs answered with two tallies to close out the third quarter and Manhattanville was unable to get any closer than four the rest of the way.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Neggia had five goals and freshman Zach Bowen finished with three goals and two assists for five points.
  • Freshman Matt Motto had three goals and an assist and sophomore Eric Magro finished with one goal and two assists.
  • Senior Josh Harman had one assist.
  • Sophomore Frank Krug had three caused turnovers and five ground balls.
  • Freshman Colin Corrado won 8-of-17 faceoffs.
  • Junior Matt Barry made 11 saves.
For the Foes
  • Will Duval had two goals and four assists, while Gianni Ciffone and Erik Sparby each scored twice.
  • Ty Arnone went 11-for-21 in face-offs and Soya Goto picked up six ground balls
  • Jason Frezza made eight saves.
Inside the Box Score
  • Manhattanville had a 43-32 edge in shots but the Bulldogs held a 20-18 advantage in shots on goal.
  • DeSales dominated the ground balls, 27-17.
  • Both teams cleared the ball well with only four failed clears all game, two for each team.
