Baseball Erases Seven-Run Deficit in 12-10 Win over Manhattanville

Center Valley, PA (April 5, 2018) - The DeSales University baseball team scored erased a 7-0 third inning deficit to win its sixth straight game, 12-10, over Manhattanville College to open the three-game set with the Valiants on a chilly Thursday afternoon at Butz Field.

Manhattanville (7-8, 4-2 MAC Freedom) got seven runs in the top of the second inning to jump on top early.

The Bulldogs struck first in the bottom of the third inning scoring three runs on a two-RBI double from senior Conner Lafferty and a sacrifice fly from junior Preston Amato.  The two teams exchanged runs in the fourth and after the Valiants got two more in the fifth to take a 10-4 lead, DSU scored four times in the bottom half of the inning to pull within 10-8.  Amato had an RBI single, sophomore Sergio Diaz had a two-RBI double, and junior Nick White followed with an RBI double all with two outs.

DeSales got within a run in the sixth on an RBI single from freshman Cody Mish and eventually took the lead for good in the seventh scoring three times on an RBI double from freshman Sean Hanczaryk and a two-out, two-RBI single from senior Randal Pacchioli.

Senior Konner Schneider did the rest, earning the win in relief pitching three dominant innings allowing just a walk and striking out three.

Lafferty finished with three of DSU's 16 hits as every starter had at least one hit.  Junior Charlie Barebo, Amato, Diaz, White, and Pacchioli each had two hits.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Manhattanville College for the rest of the three-game series.
