Softball Drops Two at Moravian

Bethlehem, PA (April 5, 2018) - The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader on a chilly Thursday afternoon at local rival Moravain College, 3-2 and 4-3 (8 Innings).

Game One (L/2-3)
A scoreless game entering the fourth inning, Moravian scored once in the fourth and twice in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead before the Bulldogs got two runs in the top of the seventh but were unable to find the tying run to fall by a run.

Freshman Riley Kerr knocked both runs in with a two-out, two-RBI single in the seventh.  Sophomore Emma Izzo, junior Adrianna Barone, and freshman Hallie Muffley each had two hits in the game one loss.  Senior Andrea Artesani took the loss allowing three runs over six innings, striking out one.

Game Two (L/3-4 - 8 Innings)
Another scoreless game into the fourth inning, Moravian took a 2-0 lead with two tallies in the fourth.  DSU got them right back in the top of the fifth on an RBI single from Kerr and a Moravian error.

The Greyhounds took a 3-2 lead in the sixth but DSU tied it in the seventh on an RBI single from junior Sunny Greenberg.

Using the international tiebreaker rule, DeSales was unable to score and Moravian got a solo run with one out in the bottom half of the eighth.

Redden, Kerr, and Greenberg each had two hits to lead the Bulldogs.  Sophomore Shannon Hill took the loss allowing two runs, one earned, over four innings of relief work.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they host Manhattanville College in a MAC Freedom doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
