Center Valley, PA (April 8, 2018) - The DeSales University women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in MAC Freedom play with a 7-2 win over Delaware Valley University on a chilly Sunday afternoon.
Doubles
The Bulldogs (8-2, 2-0 MAC Freedom) took two of three doubles matches with senior
Kelly Nguyen and sophomore
Amber Achenbach teaming for an 8-2 win at the No. 1 spot and sophomores
Kelsey Kazlauskas and
Sarah Chan earning an 8-1 win at the No. 2 spot.
Singles
DSU won all but one singles match as Nguyen was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at the No. 1 spot and Achenbach won 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. Freshman
Alex Rodier earned a 6-1, 6-7 (7-5), 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot and Chan won 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 4 slot. Sophomore
Amanda Becker won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 6 flight.
The match benefitted Monday at Racine's in which the DeSales teams remembered friends and family by wearing their Monday at Racine purple shirts. Together with the men's team, the Bulldogs raised $500 to donate to the organization, a non-profit cancer care program, from proceeds raised at today's match.
