Center Valley, PA (August 31, 2018) - The DeSales University volleyball team opened its 2018 season with two wins defeating Rutgers-Camden, 3-1, and Colby-Sawyer College, 3-0, on day one of the DeSales University Invitational on Friday evening in Billera Hall.

How it Happened
- DeSales dominated Rutgers-Camden in the opening set, 25-12, before getting tripped up in the second set as Rutgers scored six straight points with the set tied at 18 to take a 24-18 lead and held on after that. DSU rebounded with an easy win in set #3 and a come from behind win in the fourth set.
- In the second match, the Bulldogs hit .280 and had little trouble from Colby-Sawyer winning in three sets.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Senior Gabby Savite` had 12 kills and in each match hitting .455 vs. Rutgers-Camden and .308 vs. Colby Sawyer. She added 17 total digs in the two matches.
- Sophomore Morghan Shoemaker had a nice start to the season with nine kills in each match hitting .333 and .353 and adding four blocks in each match.
- Freshman Audrey Wolfe totaled 37 assists and four blocks vs. Rutgers-Camden and and had 30 assists and two blocks vs. Colby-Sawyer in her collegiate debut.
- Sophomore Noel Kelly had 10 kills and hit .417 in the win over Colby-Sawyer.
- Senior Natalie Gray led the Bulldogs in digs each match with 14 vs. Rutgers-Camden and 13 vs. Colby-Sawyer.
- Sophomore Maddy Felty had a nice showing at the net totaling two blocks in just one set of play vs. Camden and two more vs. Colby-Sawyer in two sets of play.
For the Foes
- Jordan Erskine led Camden with 10 kills and Ashley Newman had 14 digs in the loss.
- Morgan Flynn had a match-high 16 digs for Cobly-Sawyer.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales hit .231 vs. Rutgers-Camden and eight team blocks, while serving up 10 aces.
- The Bulldogs had a .280 hitting percentage vs. Colby-Sawyer with just 14 hitting errors.
- DSU out-dug its opponent in each win.
