Wilkes-Barre, PA (September 17, 2018) - The DeSales University men's tennis team took home two titles including #7 singles and #4 doubles competing at the King's College Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Below are the results from each flight over both days.
SINGLES TOURNAMENT
#1 Singles
Sophomore
Danny Lynn earned a win in the quarterfinals defeating Charles LeMantia (Cabrini), 6-3, 6-0, before falling to Tarquin McGurrin (Scranton), 6-3, 6-1 in the semifinals.
#2 Singles
Senior
Jorey Ferraro defeated Jarrod Palmer (Marywood), 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals but was defeated 6-2, 6-4, by Jan Senkerik (Scranton) in the semi's.
#3 Singles
Senior
Austin Wesch was eliminated in the quarterfinals falling to Alexander Cocolas (Susquehanna), 6-3, 6-1.
#4 Singles
Junior
Ben Greb also fell in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-1 to Nicholas Meale (Susquehanna).
#5 Singles
Freshman
Nolan Beck made his college debut with a 6-1, 6-3 loss in the quarterfinals to Ryan Seibert (Susquehanna).
#6 Singles
Junior
Ahmad Kanan earned a BYE in the quarterfinals but fell in the semifinals, 6-3, 7-5 to Emil Vyskocil (Susquehanna).
#7 Singles
Freshman
Brahm Buoy had a terrific start to his career winning the #7 singles title. He earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Jamie Peredo (Manhattanville) in the quarterfinals. Buoy defeated Liam King (Scranton), 6-1, 6-4 in the semifinals and outlasted Ethan Cooley (Susquehanna), 7-5, 6-3 in the championship match.
DOUBLES TOURNAMENT
#1 Doubles
Ferraro and Lynn fell in the quarterfinals, 8-3, to Dove/Cocolas (Susquehanna).
#2 Doubles
Wesch teamed with junior
Michael Fishler falling 8-0 in the quarterfinals to Harkins/Swope (Scranton), 8-0.
#3 Doubles
Buoy/Greb teamed up to win 8-2 over Scala/Maggiani (Scranton) in the quarterfinals, won via walkover in the semifinals, but fell 8-1 to Meale/Vyskocil (Susquehanna) in the championship match.
#4 Doubles
Kanan teamed with Beck earning a 8-1 win over Cooley/Collins (Susquehanna) in the semifinals and took home DSU's second title of the weekend with an 8-1 win over Bongiorno/Mund in the championship match.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday when they host local rival Moravian College beginning at 4:00 pm.
