Wilkes-Barre, PA (January 26, 2019) - The freshman tandem of
Samantha Shinkus and
Averi Jordan each recorded double-doubles leading the #18/21 DeSales University women's basketball team past King's College, 79-62, in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
- King's held a brief 13-10 lead late in the first quarter before the Bulldogs took control with a 19-0 run over the span of 6:38 that saw seven different Bulldogs score and senior Leandra Sterner make her return to the lineup capping off the run with a three from right wing.
- DSU extended its lead to 26 points (46-20) at the break w/Jordan leading the way with 11 first-half points.
- The second-half was all Bulldogs to start as DSU extended its lead to as many as 34 points (63-29) with three minutes left in the third quarter.
- King's finished the game on fire from three-point land, using a 12-0 run to end the third quarter to cut into the deficit and hit 11-for-22 (7-for-12 in the second-half) from outside the arc to post the final 79-62 margin.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Shinkus finished with 21 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
- Jordan equaled Shinkus with 21 points and added 10 rebounds.
- Senior Morgan Birmelin finished with 10 points, eight assists, and five steals.
- Senior Bridget Walsh had eight points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots closing to within just one block of tying the all-time record and two blocks from breaking the all-time mark of 156 rejections by both Cherelle Simmons and Morgan McCollian.
- Sterner also made her return from a knee injury playing four minutes and hitting two 3's in the first-half.
For the Foes
- Alexis Steeber finished with a team-high 20 points.
- Emily Kriston had 13 points off the bench.

- The Monarchs lit it up from three-point land hitting 11-for-22 (50 percent) for the game.
