Center Valley, PA (January 5, 2019) - The DeSales University women's basketball used a strong defensive effort to notch its sixth straight win, 71-39, over Cabrini University in the final non-conference game of the regular season on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

How it Happened
- The Bulldogs opened the game scoring the first 15 points and held the Cavaliers to just four points in the first quarter to take a 15-4 lead.
- CU got within nine twice in the second quarter before a 9-2 Bulldog run pushed the lead up to 16 points and DeSales led by 15 (31-16) at the halftime break.
- The second-half was all DSU, using another 9-2 run to start the third quarter taking a 40-18 lead and led by as many as 26 points in the third quarter before posting the final 32-point margin as the 71-39 final score.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Freshman Samantha Shinkus recorded her second double-double of the year with 17 points and a season-high 15 points, adding four steals.
- Fellow freshman Averi Jordan had 15 points and senior Morgan Birmelin finished with 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
- Senior Bridget Walsh added six points, nine rebounds, and four blocks.
For the Foes
- Ashley Tutzauer led the Cavaliers with 13 points and Kate Lannon added 11 points as the only two in double digits.
Inside the Box Score
- The Bulldogs suffocated the Cavaliers into just 20.0 percent shooting (11-for-55) for the game.
- DSU also dominated the glass out-rebounding them, 52-34, and had a 19-3 in fast break points.
