Field Hockey Erases Two-Goal Deficit in 3-2 Comeback Win

Doylestown, PA (October 11, 2019) - The DeSales University erased a two-goal deficit with three goals over the final 17:39 of the game to win its fourth straight game, 3-2, over Delaware Valley University in MAC Freedom action on Friday evening.

  • It is DSU's fourth straight win, all by the score of 3-2.
How it Happened
  • DeSales dominated play for most of the game but the Aggies were the winner on the scoreboard early scoring once in the first-half and again early in the third quarter to take a 2-0 lead.
  • DSU finally got on the board with 2:39 left in the third quarter when freshman Leah Echard scored on an assist from sophomore Olivia Witmer.
  • The Bulldogs tied the game at two with 6:03 left to play when freshman Tyra Wingle scored off a feed from junior Hannah Williams and finished off its comeback as Witmer scored on a loose ball in the circle with just 1:41 left to play giving DeSales an important road win.

  • Witmer had a goal and an assist, her second goal of the season, including the game-winner.
  • Wingle's tally was her ninth of the year, while Echard's was her second of the season.
  • Senior Katarina Polyviou made four saves in goal.
For the Foes
  • TJ Smith and Samantha Collyer scored DVU's two goals.
  • Rosie Bishop was outstanding in goal making 17 saves for the Aggies.
