Willams Scores Twice in 3-2 Double OT Win over Albright

Center Valley, PA (October 8, 2019) - Junior Hannah Williams scored two goals including the game-winner with 4:02 left in the second overtime lifting the DeSales University field hockey team past Albright College, 3-2, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 3, Albright - 2 (2 OT)
  • Records: DeSales (6-7); Albright (5-8)
  • The win is DSU's third straight and its first in overtime this season having lost its previous two OT games.
How it Happened
  • Albright took a 1-0 lead just 1:31 into the game and that was it for scoring in the first-half as the Lions led 1-0 at the break.
  • DSU needed just 4:18 into the third quarter to tie the score as freshman Tyra Wingle scored on a breakaway beating a defender and firing one past the charging GK.
  • The game seemed destined for OT tied at one before the Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead with 3:50 to go as Williams scored her first off an assist from freshman Catie McGrath.
  • Albright, however, was able to the game with just 1:58 to play in regulation.
  • Neither team scored in the first OT and with 4:02 left in the second extra period, Williams pushed home a past from Wingle in the circle to give DSU the win.

  • Williams' goals were her second and third of the year.
  • Wingle tallied her eight maker and added an assist as did McGrath.
  • Senior Katarina Polyviou made seven saves in the win.
For the Foes
  • Sydney Baxter and Nicole Crumling each scored for the Lions.
  • Bailey Lehman had an assist and Brynne Schoppe made five saves.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales had a slim 19-16 advantage in shots, while the Lions held a 13-11 edge in penalty corners.
