Women's Soccer Blanks Rutgers-Camden, 3-0, for Eighth Straight Win

Camden, NJ (October 9, 2019) - The DeSales University women's soccer team broke the team record winning its eighth straight game, 3-0, at Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference match on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 3, Rutgers-Camden - 0
  • Records: DeSales (10-2); Rutgers-Camden (3-8)
  • The Bulldogs have now won eight straight, surpassing the pervious record of seven straight wins in 2015.  A win or a tie in DSU's next game will tie the unbeaten record streak of nine set during the 2014 season.
  • Head Coach Greg Ridout tied the all-time record for wins, earning his 52nd careeer win tying Mary Guarino.
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs needed just 3:47 to take a 1-0 lead as freshman Sam Monteforte found junior Rachel Medlar in the middle of the box for DSU's first goal.
  • DeSales took a 2-0 lead in the 21st minute and into the half when freshman Meghan Foley scored inside the far post from about 20 yards out.
  • The final touches on the 3-0 win came in the 77th minute when freshman Allie Trick scored.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Medlar's goal was her third and Foley's second of the season.
  • Trick scored her team leading ninth goal and also added an assist on Foley's tally.
  • Sophomore Sam Riccardi added an assist on Trick's goal.
  • Junior Lia Gaccione made four saves to earn the shutout.
For the Foes
  • Natalie Eberhardt had five saves for the Scarlet Raptors.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales had an 11-7 edge in shots, while Rutgers-Camden took four of the six corner kicks in the game.
