Center Valley, PA (December 3, 2019) - The #3 University of Scranton Lady Royals opened the second-half on a 15-1 run leading UofS past #8 DeSales University, 59-48, in a battle of two top 10 teams on Tuesday evening in Billera Hall.

How it Happened
- The first-half was a defensive slugfest as Scranton led for 10 minutes and DeSales for seven minutes but neither by more than four points.
- DSU was up 13-10 after one quarter and the Lady Royals led for almost the entire second quarter taking a 26-23 advantage into the locker room.
- Scranton jumped all over the Bulldogs to start the second-half using a 12-1 spurt over the first 2:29 to extend its lead to 38-24 as DeSales burned two quick timeouts.
- The advantage swelled to 17 as both teams struggled to score at the 3:55 mark.
- It was an 18-point advantage late in the third quarter when sophomore Averi Jordan hit a three at the buzzer sparking a 13-5 run that cut the margin down to nine points (53-44) with 6:33 left. Freshman Megan Bealer was a big part of the spurt scoring a team-high five points.
- The Bulldogs got within eight at the 3:42 mark before the Lady Royals pulled away late and DeSales ran out of time.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Senior Molly Jansco and sophomore Samantha Shinkus each led the offensive charge with 12 points.
- Jansco had a double-double with 11 boards and Jordan added nine points and 11 rebounds.
- Shinkus had four steals and Bealer was outstanding off the bench with six points and three steals.
For the Foes
- Sofia Recupero led the Lady Royals with 16 points and eight rebounds.
- Makenzie Mason added 13 points and Bridget Monaghan played well off the bench with 11 points.

- Both teams shot under 35% with Scranton at 34.4% and DeSales at 31.9%.
- DSU was 16-for-22 from the free throw line, while the Lady Royals hit just 9-of-18 from the charity stripe.
