Union, NJ (February 23, 2019) - The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader falling to Kean University, 8-3 and 3-0, in the 2019 season opener on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

• Final Score: Game one (L/3-8); Game two (L.0-3)
• Records: DeSales (0-2 overall); Kean (2-0 overall)

Game One

• The Bulldogs trailed 2-0 entering the top of the fifth when they scored three runs to take a 3-2 lead.
• Sophomore Riley Kerr, senior Leann Panconi, and senior Adrianna Barone all had RBI singles in the inning.
• Kean answered with five runs in the bottom half of the frame taking a 7-3 lead and added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

 Game Two

• DeSales managed just three hits in this one as Kean scored three times in the third inning to post the final tally.

Top Bulldog Performers

• Sophomore Ciarrah Holmqvist had three hits on the day to lead the offense.
• Freshman Heather Hall pitched well in her debut allowing just three runs over five innings in game two.

For the Foes

• Jackie Riley tossed a three-hit shutout in game two, striking out four.
