Clermont, FL (March 4, 2019) - The DeSales University softball team has opened its spring break trip with a 3-1 record after winning two games on Monday afternoon down in south Florida.
Game One (L/0-8 vs. Trine)
The Bulldogs managed just one hit in the lost to Trine to open up its spring trip. SophomoreÂ
Aubree Fritzinger took the loss allowing six runs over three innings pitched.
Game Two (W/4-3 vs. PSU-Brandywine)
After taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning, PSU-Brandywine scored three times in the third to take a 3-1 lead and that advantage stood into the final inning when the Bulldogs rallied for three runs to run off with a 4-3 walk-off win.
SeniorÂ
Carly Benjamin had the big hit, an pinch-hit RBI single plating freshmanÂ
Gianna D'Acunto, who came on as a pinch-runner with the game-winning run.
Freshman
 Heather Hall had three hits and sophomoreÂ
Julia Testagrose earned the win pitching two innings of scoreless relief.
Game Three (W/9-1 vs. Bates College)
A scoreless game entering the bottom of the third inning saw the Bulldogs scored three times in the third and fourth to take a 6-1 lead and never looked back.
Fritzinger earned her first collegiate win in the circle pitching six strong innings allowing two hits and one unearned run, striking out three.
Sophomore
Hallie Muffley finished with three hits and five RBIs to lead the offense.
Game Four (W/9-8 vs. Carthage College)
DeSales had complete control in this one scoring three times in the first and five times in the fourth. DSU led 9-2 entering the seventh inning when Carthage nearly pulled off a monster comeback scoring six times before the Bulldogs finally closed the door for the one-run win.
FreshmanÂ
Jill Harrison earned the win allowing seven runs over six innings pitched. Hall earned her first career save getting the final two outs to preserve the win.
SeniorÂ
Leann Panconi was 4-for-4 with two RBIs, Benjamin had three RBIs, and Fritzinger finished with two hits and two runs scored in the win.
