Bridgewater, VA (February 24, 2019) - The DeSales University baseball team opened up the 2019 season splitting a doubleheader at Bridgewater College (VA) dropping the first game, 10-5, before exploding in the second game with a 21-8 win.
Game One (L/5-10)
BC scored twice in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead and DSU cut that lead in half when juniorÂ
Evan Plummer walked and scored on consecutive errors on a pick-off play at first base in the third inning.
The Eagles scored two quick runs in the bottom half of the third to take a 4-1 lead and blew the game open in the seventh with five tallies to take a 9-2 lead.

Sean Hanczaryk led the offensive attack with three hits, while seniorÂ
Nick White added two hits. SophomoreÂ
Ian Kacergis suffered the loss allowing three earned over three innings pitched.
Game Two (W/21-8)
Bridgewater scored in each of the first three innings to take a 4-1 lead before DeSales exploded offensively.
The Bulldogs scored five times in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings and plated runs in five of the last six innings to roll past the Eagles in game two.
N. White had another big game with three hits, three runs scored, and four RBIs including a three-run home run. FreshmanÂ
Johnny Medina had a grand slam and knocked in five runs and juniorÂ
Michael White also hit a home run, a three-run shot in the eighth inning.

Sergio Diaz had two hits and scored three times, Hanczaryk had two more hits in game two, and Plummer and seniorÂ
Preston Amato each had two hits and two runs scored.

John Poccia earned the win with three strong innings of relief allowing just two hits and one run, striking out three.
The Bulldogs are back in action next week when they play seven games during Spring Break down in Florida.
