Men's Lacrosse Dominates Final Three Quarters; Opens Season 3-0 for First Time with 10-6 Win at Arcadia

Glenside, PA (February 26, 2019) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse shook off a 4-0 early deficit and rolled past Arcadia University late to open a season 3-0 for the first time in school history with a 10-6 win over the Knights on Tuesday afternoon.

  • The 3-0 start mark the first time in team history the Bulldogs have started a season with a perfect mark thru three games.
How it Happened
  • Arcadia dominated early scoring the first four goals of the game before DeSales quieted the momentum with a goal at the end of the first quarter with just 28 seconds left.
  • That goal started a string of seven straight goals thru the 11:58 mark of the third quarter and saw DeSales take a 7-4 lead.  Junior Matt Brown scored three of the goals.
  • Arcadia stopped the streak with the final goal of the third quarter but three straight makers to start the fourth quarter put DSU up 10-5 and the Bulldogs never looked back from there.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Freshman Kai Taylor led DSU in scoring with three goals and one assist.
  • Brown also scored three times.
  • Freshman Tom Connors had one goal and one assist and senior Joe Neggia and juniors Eric Magro and Justin Monaghan each scored once.
  • Junior Frank Krug dominated the midfield totaling 10 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
  • Senior Matt Barry finished with 14 saves.
  • Sophomore Colin Corrado won 10-of-18 face-offs.
For the Foes
  • Sean Connolly had four goals and one assist for the Knights.
  • Brady Manion added two assists and Clo Muscara finished with one goal and one assist.
  • Grant Palmer totaled 19 saves.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales out-shot Arcadia, 49-35 and had a 47-39 edge in ground balls.
  • After clearing just 1-for-5 in the first quarter, DSU was 13-for-17 the rest of the game.
  • The Bulldogs scored two man-up goals in seven attempts.
