Women's Lacrosse Sets Several Records in 22-11 Win at Gwynedd-Mercy

Gwynedd-Valley, PA (March 13, 2019) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team broke two team records and two individual scoring records in a 22-13 win over Gwynedd-Mercy University on Wednesday evening.

  • The Bulldogs broke the team record for assists in a game (13) and points in a game (35) in the win.
How It Happened
  • DeSales never trailed in this one scoring the first four goals of the game and led by three (9-6) after one half.
  • The Griffins were still within three goals (11-8) early in the second half when the Bulldogs scored nine of the next 10 goals to take a 20-9 lead and never really looked back from there.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Sophomore Julia Astram broke the single-game record in both goals (7) and points (10), adding three assists in the win.
  • Sophomore Eilis McCall tied the single-game record with four assists and added three goals, while sophomore Katie Stordy finished with four goals and three assists.
  • Freshman Azlin Myers had four goals and one assist and freshman Karlie Deeck added three goals and one assist.
  • Junior Alyssa Mantzouranis rounded out the scoring with one goal and one assist.
  • Stordy finished with five ground balls and nine draw controls and Deeck had 10 draw controls.
  • Freshman Justine Whiten picked up four ground balls.
For the Foes
  • Victoria Braeunle led the Griffins with four goals and three assists, while also recording seven draw controls.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs out-shot the Griffins, 39-19.
  • DSU won 24-of-34 draw controls and were 10-for-11 in clear attempts.
