Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader with Delaware Valley; Barebo Knocks in Seven

Center Valley, PA (March 24, 2019) - The DeSales University baseball team saw its offense explode for 35 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Delaware Valley University by scores of 23-3 and 12-2, on Sunday afternoon at Weiland Park.

Game One (W/23-3)
The Bulldogs scored in every inning and pounded out 20 hits in the game one win.

Junior John Poccia was the pitcher benefitting from all the run support as he earned the win pitching six strong innings allowing two earned runs, striking out nine.  He allowed just five hits.

Leading the offensive onslaught was senior Charlie Barebo who was a double short of the cycle finishing 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs.  Sophomore Cody Mish had two hits and freshman Johnny Medina finished 4-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Junior Michael White finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and six RBIs, including a grand slam home run and sophomore Frank Licari equaled M. White with a grand slam and four RBIs.  Senior Nick White finished 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs, and junior Evan Plummer was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

Game Two (W/12-2)
The Aggies scored once in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead before DeSales took control.

DSU scored three times in the third and three more times in the fourth to take a 6-2 lead and put the game away with a six spot in the seventh inning.

Barebo led the way again going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBIs.  Mish finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs, senior Preston Amato had two hits, Plummer was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and M. White added two more hits.

Sophomore Ian Kacergis earned the win pitching a complete-game allowing seven hits and two runs, striking out seven.

The Bulldogs are right back to action on Monday when they host Delaware Valley University in the third game of the weekend set beginning at 3:30 pm at Weiland Park.
