Softball Settles for DH Split with Delaware Valley

Center Valley, PA (March 26, 2019) - The DeSales University softball team settled for a doubleheader split with Delaware Valley University in MAC Freedom action on a chilly Tuesday evening at McGettigan Park.

Game One (W/11-0)
DeSales dominated game one scoring seven runs in the first inning and not looking back.

Freshman Aubree Fritzinger went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and earned the complete game win tossing a two-hit shutout, striking out seven.

Junior Erin Redden was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, senior Leann Panconi knocked in three runs, and sophomore Caitlin Newsom had two hits and scored twice.

Game Two (L/7-8)
DeSales had a 2-0 lead after two runs in the second inning on singles by sophomore Sam Napoli and Fritzinger.  The Aggies tied it up with two in the fourth, before the Bulldogs reclaimed a two-run lead (4-2) with solo runs in the fourth and fifth inning.

Delaware Valley then exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth inning to take command and an 8-4 lead.

DSU went quietly in the sixth but nearly came all the way back in the bottom of the seventh inning with three runs leaving the tying run on second base after Newsome drove in three runs with a one-out bases clearing double.

Fritzinger had three more hits and knocked in two runs.  Sophomore Reilly Kerr had two hits and freshman Gianna D'Acunto also had two hits in the loss.

The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow when they travel to The College of New Jersey beginning at 2:30 pm.
