Men's Lacrosse Stays Unbeaten with 14-12 Win over Clark

Clearwater, FL (March 7, 2019) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team stayed unbeaten defeating Clark University, 14-12, in its second game down in Clearwater, FL on Thursday morning.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 14, Clark - 12
  • Records: DeSales (5-0); Clark (1-2)
How it Happened
  • DeSales never trailed in this one scoring three of the first four goals to take an early 3-1 lead.
  • Tied at three, the Bulldogs scored four straight to take a 7-3 lead before Clark answered with four straight its own between the end of the second quarter and start of the third quarter to re-tie the game at seven.
  • Once again DSU had the answer scoring its second straight string of four straight goals to take an 11-7 lead.
  • Clark battled back to get within one (13-12) with 9:34 to go in the fourth quarter but senior Joe Neggia scored with 6:52 to go to provide some insurance and the Bulldogs held on from there.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Neggia led the scoring attack with five goals.
  • Sophomore Zach Bowen also had five points finishing with four goals and an assist and junior Justin Monaghan had four assists.
  • Juniors Eric Magro and Matt Brown each had two goals, while freshman Kai Taylor and junior Frank Krug both had two assists.
  • Freshman Sean Wiser rounded out the scoring with one goal.
  • Krug finished with five caused turnovers and four ground balls.
  • Senior Matt Barry finished with 15 saves.
For the Foes
  • Chris Rasco led Clark with three goals.
  • Bobby Philbin had 14 face-offs and 10 ground balls.
  • Nathan Maselek finished with 19 saves.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales had a 49-41 advantage in shots, while Clark had a 38-31, edge in ground balls.
  • Clark won 22-of-29 face-offs but committed 22 turnovers as compared to just 13 miscues for the Bulldogs.
  • DSU was near perfect in clears, going 27-for-28.
