Baseball Splits Final Two Games on Spring Trip

Winter Haven, FL (March 9, 2019) - The DeSales University baseball team split its final two games during its spring trip to Florida on Friday and Saturday to finish the trip with a 2-5 record.

Game One (W/11-8 vs. UMASS-Dartmouth)
The Bulldogs scored in each of the first four innings to take a 7-2 lead and led 10-2 after five and a half innings after scoring three more in the top of the sixth.

UMASS-Dartmouth made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth inning scoring five times after DSU led 11-3, to provide the final tally.

Sophomore Cody Mish scored four times and sophomore Sean Hanczaryk had five RBIs in the win.  Junior Sergio Diaz went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and senior Nick White had three more hits in the win.

Sophomore Ian Kacergis earned the win on the bump going seven innings allowing three runs and striking out 10.

Game Two (L/3-13 vs. John Carroll)
DeSales took a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first and one more in the second before John Carroll blew the game open with five runs in the third, six in the fourth, and two more in the fifth.

DSU had just five hits, by different players.  Junior John Poccia took the loss allowing five earned over 3 1/3 innings, striking out two.

The Bulldogs are now off until Friday, March 15th when they are scheduled to host King's College in a MAC Freedom game beginning at 3:30 pm.
