Preston Amato had three hits and scored twice leading the DeSales University baseball team past FDU-Florham, 11-4, in the first game of the three-game set at Weiland Park on Thursday afternoon.
The Devils took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning but it was all Bulldogs after that.
DSU answered with four runs in the bottom half of the frame as senior
Nick White, sophomore
Cody Mish, and junior
Evan Plummer all had RBI hits.
The Bulldogs added three more runs in the third and two in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead and never looked back from there.
Junior
John Poccia pitched well once again allowing just three runs over seven innings, striking out six to improve to 6-1 on the year.
Senior
Charlie Barebo had two hits, including the 100th of his career in a DeSales uniform. Senior
Aaron Fritz knocked in two runs, junior
Sergio Diaz scored twice, freshman
Johnny Medina scored three times, while Mish and Plummer each had two hits.
The Bulldogs wrap-up the series with the Devils on Saturday beginning at 11:30 AM at Yogi Berra Stadium on Montclair State University's campus.
